Bodegas Cerdá — A Tradition Rooted in Time
Located in the heart of Hondón de las Nieves, Bodegas Cerdá is a winery that quietly carries over a century of history. Established in 1885, this family-run business reflects a deep connection to both wine and place, with generations of experience evident in its approach.
From the moment we arrived, there was a sense that this is not a commercialised, high-volume operation, but rather a working winery that has evolved while maintaining its identity. The redevelopment in 2007 has clearly allowed the business to open its doors more fully to visitors, offering a well-considered balance between tradition and accessibility.
Guided Tour
We opted for the guided tour, lunch, and wine tasting in the cellar for 90 euros per person; it was truly amazing. The food was tasty, plentiful,l and had a feel of home cooking. The Wine tastings were excellent. We loved the wines so much that we bought two cases of wine.
The tasting room and restaurant itself provided a relaxed and welcoming environment, giving us the opportunity to engage with the wines in a setting that felt authentic rather than staged. The experience was unpretentious and centred around the product itself.
Production and Bottling
The visit to the production and bottling areas added another layer to our experience, offering insight into the process behind the wines. This transparency reinforced the sense of continuity between past and present, a family business adapting to modern expectations without losing its foundation.
The wine selection reflected the region, with a focus on approachable, well-crafted wines that speak to local character rather than international trends. Alongside this, the shop offers a range of bottled wines and traditional products, making it easy for visitors to take a part of the experience home.
Personal Attention
Service is friendly and personal, consistent with what you would expect from a family-operated establishment. There is an attentiveness without pressure, allowing guests to explore at their own pace.
Overall, Bodegas Cerdá is not about spectacle; it is about heritage, continuity, and honest wine production. For those looking to experience a more grounded and authentic side of Alicante’s wine culture, it is well worth a visit.
