Living in Queseda

Origen Restaurant

We were on our way for a simple walk along the promenade in Guardamar when we happened upon Origen. It’s funny how many times you can pass a place over the years without ever really seeing it. We’ve driven that road countless times over the past seven years, yet somehow this was our first time noticing it.

What caught our attention immediately was the detail on the terrace. In most restaurants, outdoor tables are treated as an afterthought—functional but rarely dressed with care. Origen was different. The terrace was beautifully set, with a level of attention that suggested pride and intent. It made us stop, turn back, and take a closer look. That alone says something.

Outside Terrace

We chose to sit outside in the sunshine, which only added to the experience. There’s something about good weather, a well-set table, and the anticipation of a meal that sets the tone before the first plate even arrives. The service matched that first impression—friendly, attentive, and efficient without being overbearing.

To start, we ordered the Ceviche de Gamba (€22) and the Tartar de Atún (€26). Both dishes were visually striking and beautifully presented, almost like artwork, but more importantly, they delivered on flavour. Fresh, well-balanced, and generously portioned. The pricing is on the higher side for starters, but the quality justifies it.

For the main

We shared a seafood paella (€18 per person). It was excellent—full of depth, well executed, and very fairly priced in comparison to the starters. A dish that felt both satisfying and honest.

With three sparkling waters, the total bill came to €101. For a lunch, it leans towards the expensive side, but this is one of those occasions where the quality, setting, and overall experience make it worthwhile.

Origen wasn’t planned. It was discovered. And sometimes those are the best experiences of all.

We’ll be back—next time for dinner.
