Beautiful Setting, Charming Staff, But Overpriced for the Experience
Our opinion of Misto Restaurant – We were introduced to Misto Restaurante by a good friend who suggested we give it a try, so we did. Booking online was seamless and efficient, and we secured our table for the evening of 5th July.
Style and Hospitality
Misto is located in Algorfa, within an impressive resort-style complex. The architecture is striking—modern, spacious, and visually appealing. While undeniably elegant, there’s something slightly unconventional about the space that makes it feel more like a design statement than a traditional fine dining venue.
Upon entering, we were warmly welcomed by a team of professional and friendly staff. Their hospitality immediately put us at ease. The dining room itself is well thought-out: airy, generous spacing between tables, marble-topped surfaces, and stylish (if not entirely comfortable) chairs. One odd distraction, however, was a television playing random images, which somewhat disrupted the otherwise upscale ambiance.
We were offered a choice of tables by one of the attentive hosts and made our selection. Menus were presented promptly, and we began the evening with a Bombay Sapphire & Tonic and a Sparkling Water.
A Mixed Experience
Hungry and curious, we chose to share three starters:
- Fresh oysters, which were tasty but overpriced at €4.50 each.
- A carpaccio, priced at €18, which was well-executed and enjoyable.
- An Ensalada de Ventresca (tuna belly salad), which was just average.
(Upon reviewing our bill for this review, we noticed we were charged for two salads instead of one—an unfortunate oversight.)
The service throughout was personal and warm. Our main server was informative, engaging, and made us feel truly welcome—he even shared a bit about himself, which we appreciated.
Well-Presented, But Not Fine Dining Quality
For the main course, we ordered:
- Solomillo (tenderloin) with fig sauce – €30, accompanied by patatas fritas – €5. I had asked to skip the fig sauce, but the server was so enthusiastic about it, I agreed—with a pepper sauce on the side (€3.50). Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the fig sauce at all.
- Entrecôte steak – €45, which was good, though not outstanding.
Drinks included another Bombay Sapphire & Tonic and a Coca-Cola. The total bill came to €184 for two people.
Stylish But Not Justified by the Price
So, was it worth it?
The decor is stylish, the staff are lovely, and the atmosphere is refined, but when it comes to food quality and value, Misto doesn’t quite live up to its pricing. The dishes were good, but not exceptional—and certainly not at the level one expects for nearly €200.
