Our opinion of Kohlanta – If you’re looking for authentic Asian cuisine in Alicante, Kohlanta Restaurant looks like it is just that. We visited on a busy Sunday afternoon and wanted to share our experience to help others decide if it’s the right spot for them.
First Impressions
The restaurant was bustling when we arrived, and we were lucky to secure a table without a reservation. The décor stood out immediately, it’s stylish, modern, and authentically aligned with the cuisine, creating a welcoming ambiance.
Despite being busy, the two staff members on the floor managed the crowd efficiently. Their professionalism and calm demeanour were impressive, especially given how packed the restaurant was.
Our Order
We were excited to try a variety of dishes, so we ordered:
Starters
– Satay Skewers
– Teriyaki Skewers
– Kohstilla Bao
– Prawns Wonton
Mains
– Ramen
– Special Japchae Noodles
The Prawns Wonton arrived first and were a standout, perfectly cooked, flavourful, and delicious. However, the rest of the meal didn’t quite live up to the same standard.
The Ramen arrived next, followed by the Special Japchae. My partner described the Japchae as “passable”, nothing exceptional, lacking that wow moment.
The Issue
After the initial dishes, we waited around 30 minutes for the remaining three starters. Concerned, I finally asked the waitstaff about the delay. While they were polite but non apologetic, the long wait was disappointing, especially since we were looking forward to trying the Satay Skewers, Teriyaki Skewers, and Kohstilla Bao.
The Bao arrived, the pulled meat tasted like it was cooked a few days and was covered in a thick Korean Chimichurri Mayonnaise, which was not good. Then the Satay arrived and I was underwhelmed. The meat was tough and the Satay Sauce was disgusting. Then the Teriyaki Skewers arrived, I ate one and left the rest. The meat tasted as if it was gone off.
Final Thoughts
Kohlanta Restaurant has a lot going for it great ambiance, friendly service, and some delicious dishes like the Prawns Wonton. However, the inconsistent pacing of the meal and the poor quality of some dishes left us with mixed feelings.
Would We Recommend It?
If you’re patient and willing to overlook some delays, Im not convinced that Kohlanta is worth a visit. You might want to explore other options in Alicante. We had two bottles of water and our bill was €62. For the quantity of food, this was reasonable. But the quality was not good.
