Boracay Asian Restaurant

A Hidden Gem of Authentic Asian Dining

This is our opinion of Boracay Asian Restaurant – Some of the best discoveries are the ones you stumble upon. That’s exactly how we found Boracay Asian Restaurant in La Mata. Not hidden, but simply unknown to us until one afternoon, quite by accident, we walked through its beautiful, foliage-lined entrance.

The approach to Boracay is like a slow immersion into another world. You cross a long bridge-like pathway, surrounded by tropical greenery, and immediately you feel it — the atmosphere, the intention. It’s more than décor; it’s a mood. The hallway that follows is lined with Asian spices. Subtly placed to create a visual stimuli that stir both memory and appetite. And then, you arrive.

A Feast for the Eyes — The Setting

The restaurant itself is nothing short of stunning. Spread across three beautifully decorated levels, plus a thoughtfully designed terrace, Boracay feels like a love letter to Asia. The walls are adorned with powerful images of Asian warriors and mythical dragons. The ceiling glows with delicate Chinese lanterns in soft, inviting colours.

Downstairs, the vibe changes slightly. A separate Hot Pot restaurant occupies the lower level. With equally beautiful design elements and a menu that focuses on this interactive Traditional way of dining. We’ve eaten in every part of Boracay, and while I favour the terrace for its open charm. My partner leans toward the Hot Pot for its comforting warmth and unique experience.

A lovely detail: even though the Hot Pot has its own dedicated menu, the staff are happy to let guests order from the main menu, which is a considerate touch for groups with varied tastes.

The Service — Gentle, Kind, and Unforgettable

If I had to name one thing that truly sets Boracay apart — beyond the setting or the food — it would be the people. The team here are among the sweetest, most courteous, and genuinely gentle servers we’ve encountered anywhere. Nothing is rushed, nothing is forced. Just sincere hospitality, served with grace.

The Food — From Sushi to Hot Pot, Always Exceptional

On this particular visit, I opted for the Hot Pot experience — a tradition I’ve grown to love for both its flavour and its ritual. Last time, I had the Sushi, which was excellent: fresh, beautifully presented, with well-balanced combinations that weren’t smothered in cream cheese (a rare thing these days). But today, it was all about the Olla Picante — the hot and spicy broth base.

For those unfamiliar, Hot Pot involves a simmering pot of broth at the centre of your table, into which you drop raw ingredients of your choice to cook slowly, soaking up all the rich, complex flavours of the broth.

We chose:

Lonchas Angus & Canon de Angus (thinly sliced, melt-in-the-mouth beef) – Albondigas de Gambas (shrimp balls) – Calamari – Tofu – Two bowls of rice – DIY sauces mixed from the sauce station — a fun and flavourful part of the experience

With two beers and two waters, our total bill came to just €74, which felt incredibly fair given the quality and amount of food, the service, and the overall experience.

Boracay isn’t just another Asian restaurant in La Mata — it’s a place that captures the heart of what good dining should be: thoughtful, immersive, flavourful, and welcoming.

We have become regulars.

To the team at Boracay — thank you. For the food, the kindness, and the atmosphere.
