Parque Reina Sofía is a popular public park located in the centre of Guardamar del Segura, on Spain’s southern Costa Blanca coast. It’s one of the town’s most beloved green spaces. Blending nature, wildlife, family-friendly facilities, and cultural life in a shady pine setting.  

Location

Located inside the urban area of Guardamar del Segura, near Avenida dels Pins and close to the beach. It is part of the historic pine forests planted in the late 19th century to stabilise shifting sand dunes and protect the town. The park is integrated into the surrounding pinewood (pinada) and is easily accessible on foot from the town centre.

What You’ll Find There

Natural Setting & Wildlife, shady walks beneath mature Mediterranean pines and landscaped gardens. Tranquil and beautiful. A series of ponds and small water features hosting ducks, swans, geese, turtles and fish.  Red squirrels darting among the trees A signature sight for many visitors, which are truly remarkable. Peacocks roam freely, often displaying their colourful feathers. 

Family-Friendly Amenities

There are multiple children’s play areas with swings, slides, climbing frames. Open space for running around, making it an ideal place to take the children. Picnic benches and shaded spots ideal for relaxing or enjoying an outdoor lunch. Paths suitable for walking, jogging, or a leisurely family stroll.

Locals often use the park as a meeting point and community hub As well as events and small cultural activities are occasionally held in the park.

Good to know

The Parque is open year-round and free to enter. Parking is usually easier outside summer peak hours.  Make sure to bring sunscreen and water in hot months; shade is plentiful, but the Mediterranean sun is strong.
